Long Time Update Lost Track Of Running Blog
Ok so I started this blog writing about my running journey at the start of the year 2011. But the last few months I got sidetracked and didn’t really write anything. Sorry readers L
Well now I’m back and going to keep writing about my running journey and a lot has happened since my 1st half marathon Lydd March 12th 2011.
I have since ran a 10k race and another half marathon and also a 10 mile race. So I now have quite a bit of race experience and also currently going through my 1st injury which I believe is runner’s knee which I got from running my 2nd half marathon (Bourne Woods Lincolnshire) this was a trail run and was probably the worst terrain I have ever ran on. It was rocky and I must have gone over on my ankle at least a dozen times during the race. I also struggled towards the end of the race and could only manage a 1:47:32.
I ran this race in Nike lunar which I think was a bad idea as I have been running most of my other races in Brooks Green Silence which is an awesome racing shoe that’s very light and is more of a minimalistic shoe.
I took some pictures of my collection of running shoes; my 1st shoes I brought were the Nike Lunar Flywire and these have been very good shoes, there very comfortable and I have done probably over 200 miles in them. I then heard about “minimalistic shoes” and how running barefoot is better for you so I went and bought the Brooks green silence shoes which are great and I feel very light in them.
Here are the pictures sorry for the poor quality took with my iphone.

Nike Lunar

- Asics Gel-Cumulus 13

- Brooks Green Silence
I usually find that when running fast around 6:00 – 6:30 per mile I find I get blisters so recently I went to a running specialist and was told about Asics so I went and got a pair of Asics Gel-Cumulus 13 which are totally different to the current shoes I have as these are very padded and much heavier so I’m going to alternate through all the shoes so that I can try and stop the blisters while also trying to improve my speed over long distances.
My Recent Races:
10K RACE – TIME – 46:47 – 7:34 PER MILE – HILLY COURSE
10 MILE RACE – TIME – 1:13:03 – 7:19 PER MILE – FLAT COURSE – STRONG WINDS
13.1 HALF MARATHON – TIME -1:47:32 – 8:10 PER MILE – HILLY, ROCKY COURSE
I did the 10 mile race and then the following week I did the half marathon so I don’t think I was fully recovered from the 10 mile race and the fact it was a slow course as the winner only finished in 1:25 something. I finished 33rd out of 200 so I was happy with the position.
Currently Injured:
So since I ran my half marathon around 2 weeks ago I’m currently sore in my right knee and I googled about my injury and it seems that most people call it runner’s knee. I went on a 1.5 mile run in my Asics Gel-Cumulus 13 to try them out and I felt very bouncy in them as they are very well padded and they apparently prevent over pronation which I tend to do slightly but my knee was tingling so I stopped after the 1.5 mile mark.
I have also tried riding my bike to work but that seems to make the knee hurt more so I’m trying to rest it by not running. I did have a week of not running at all but I have since ran a half mile in my Vibram Fivefinger shoes which are awesome and I will post about it in my next post a thorough review.
