Pulled Back Muscle By Putting Vibram FiveFinger KSO’s On. HA HA!

So Saturday morning I was trying to put my Vibram FiveFinger KSO on and I guess I must have been spending a little longer than normal sat down reaching over and once I got them on I stood up and felt my back spasm. It was very sore and so all my planned running went out the window.

Running Back Pain

I was due an 8.5 mile run Sunday but was looking at doing a big 15 miler but had to rest due to my back pain. I rested Monday, Tuesday and my back is much better now. It’s still a little sore in my lower left region on my back but 95% better overall.

I decided to try and run a recovery run and keep heart rate under 75% as I want to run a big 15-18 miler tomorrow. I also decided to use my Vibram KSO for this run as I was only planning on running it very slowly and the Vibrams would be a perfect match for this run.

I ran 3 miles and felt awesome and also I didn’t feel any pain in my back and as well didn’t feel knee pain at all like I have been in previous runs. I don’t know if my runner’s knee pain has been cured or that it was because I was running very slowly. (9:15 per mile)

It took me nearly 28 minutes to run 3 miles which felt very slow but I quite enjoyed the slow pace. I barley even sweated except for one steep hill which was on the way back home. I also managed to count my cadence and I was hitting around 180 steps per minute. So that’s good and I know now how to run 180 per minute from now on.

I’m really hoping to be able to do a big run tomorrow but I will decide in the morning, depends on how my back is and also it may be that I will just have to run a small 5-8 mile run and keep it nice and steady.

Each day the marathon is getting closer and I’m getting more and more excited for it.
