Recovery Run Vibram FiveFinger KSO Sore Achilles

Yesterday was a recovery run and was only 3 miles but in the end I ended up doing 3.31 miles which was a very relaxed easy run and I kept my heart beat below 68%. I ran in my Vibrams as I try and do at least 1 run a week in them and find that this run is perfect for them.

Running Vibrams Achilles Tendon Sore Today

Today my right Achilles tendon felt a little sore for the first time and I expect this is because of the Vibrams and how my Achilles tendon needs time to strengthen as apparently shoes make it weaker. (There is a lot of information on Google about shod running)

Most people get sore calves running in Vibrams but I’m yet to suffer this, it’s been a little over a month and my 1st bit of pain is my Achilles so I will monitor the problem and take it easy still in my Vibram KSO.

What I do once I have finish my run

Once I finish a run I do a little warm down, a few stretches and then have a drink of water and usually have a snack (banana, toast, bagel, etc) I then save my Garmin 305 statistics onto the computer so I can see all the detailed information.

However I upload my data to not 1 but 4 different programs and websites which makes normally a quick upload to about 10-20 mins of my time and I also write this blog which I love doing and usually end up writing for 20-60 mins and sometimes more. I also have to find images and crop the charts and stats for you guys to see but running is now my passion and I love everything about it.

Here are the programs and websites I use;

  1. Sporttracks
  2. Garmin Connect
  3. MyAsics
  4. DailyMile

You have probably heard of them so I won’t go into each but I only recently discover DailyMile and I love the fact that it’s just like Facebook but for runners and other runners can post comments and send you motivation.

  1. My father has the Vibram Five Finger running shoes and he loves them. He developed shin splints after running in them, but they got better as he slowed down his transition into them. I was wondering if you wear socks with them? I know my dad gets really sweaty feet when he runs, and I was hoping to get him a pair of men’s quarter socks that’s breathe.
