Runner’s Knee So Much Better – Ran 10k Today In 46:55
Since carrying on doing my runner’s knee exercises I woke up today with no pain or tingling sensations in my knee.(whoop whoop) My run for today was going to be 5 miles in my Vibrams but I decided to run in my Asics Cumulus and tomorrow I will use my Vibrams for my recovery run which I will run 2-3 miles and keep my heart rate under 75%.
I ran today 6.2 miles as I was feeling very good and pain free.
I started slow but as the 1st mile had a little downhill section I found that the 1st mile was ran in 7:24 which I was looking at running under 8 min per mile today as still in recovery.
Here are my mile splits
1. 7:24
2. 7:17
3. 7:34
4. 7:37
5. 7:32
6. 7.46
7. 1.42
Finished the 10k in 46:55 which is a decent time when you haven’t really ran in over 2 weeks and had a sore knee. I don’t know if I’m crazy or just plain stupid but maybe I should have taken it a lot slower.
I did feel a couple of very slight twinges during the run, the 1st after 2.2 miles but nothing major if It was a major pain I would have stopped. I also noticed my right calve getting tight which is the same side as my knee problem but again nothing major so a few stretches afterwards and its feeling fine.
I really think the exercises are helping tremendously fix my runner’s knee problem, after the race my knees felt fine and even when I’m sat down with my legs under the table I only feel a very slight discomfort compared to the really bad aches in the beginning. (even after 8 hours they still feel fine)
I also received a comment about doing some exercises to strengthen my glute muscles so a big thanks to RunnerDude at runnerdudesblog.com. I really appreciate the suggestions and it’s good to get help from other experienced runner’s. After all I have only been running since January 2011 so I’m still pretty much a newbie.

Butt Exercises
Wearing Vibram FiveFingers for most of today and got some great feedback!
Today as well with it being father’s day I went for dinner with my family and I wore my Vibrams as my family haven’t seen them. Their faces when they seen them were shocked and some of the comments were;
• They look like gorilla feet
• What happens when you get a twig caught between the toes
• Where did you get them from I want a pair
• They look really scary
I really do love to wear them and they are starting to get really comfortable.
