The Big 10 Mile Run Hurt Like Hell
So today was a mile more than last week with it being 10 miles. I wasn’t actually feeling this run not sure why but I couldn’t be bothered but knew that once I start it will be ok.
I decided to do this run with a goal in mind and that was to hit 10 miles in 1 hour 15 mins. I did the 1st 5 miles running at 8 min and the last 5 miles running around the 7 min mark.
I completed the run in;
10 Miles Thursday – time 1:13:46 pace 7:22 per mile
This was right on my goal so it worked out good, however on paper it looks good but running it was quite difficult. The 1st 5 miles was quite slow at 8 min or so and felt good but the last 5 miles I really stepped it up and was hitting 80% heart rate.
The last mile slowed me down considerably as it had a little hill and I had to keep looking at my iPod Nano to see when I was near 10 miles.
Overall it was a good run considering I didn’t want to start it but so glad I did when I finished.
Next week is a step down in miles as the week after it will be a big 12 miles so my biggest run next week is 7 miles.
